Hello, my name's Alexis and as my heart breaks to write this, I'm trying to raise money for my stepdad who has received some awful news. Bob “Cheerio” Simmons received a cancer diagnosis back in 2022. From there, it's been nothing but bad news after bad news, healing and getting let down all over again, but with the strength I've never seen come from anyone else but him.

Wonder where “Cheerio” comes from? When he first came into my life when I was very young, I would sit in my highchair and throw my Cheerios at him to wake him.

I would also hold his finger in the backseat of his car, and that seemed to be the only way I'd fall asleep. He is the most selfless, giving, and caring person I have ever met in my life. He would and has given every last little bit he has to make sure someone else didn't go without in this life. He is constantly joking with all of us, and somehow always has a smile on his face through it all.

So, here I am reaching out to my friends, family, and community in this hard time.

Bob is a semi-truck driver, and has been for 20+ years.

Along with his colorectal cancer diagnosis in 2022, he has had many bumps along the way in this journey from not being able to do treatment because he didn't have the proper insurance coverage because he couldn't work, leading to the cancer metastasizing and growing progressively worse due to the fact. It has been a seemingly downhill battle from the start from countless appointments, hospital stays, ER visits, surgeries, chemotherapy and immunotherapy, and everything in between. We have all remained doing our best to lift his spirits in these hard times to try to keep him going.

Today, December 17, 2024, Bob and his loved ones received the news that he only has a few months left because of how aggressive this cancer has become since it spread to his liver and his lungs. He may possibly have a few *extra* months if he continues treatment, but overall he had received the news no one ever wants to hear.

I am extending out to a GoFundMe page to try and raise money for him to be able to do things he's wanted to do in life while he still can. As well as be able to still pay his regular bills and not have to worry about having to work so much. I just want him to be able to enjoy what precious time he has left with us.
