Help Blue Overcome Cancer with Amputation
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write.
My dog, Blue, has been by my side since he was just 2 months old. He’s not just a pet, he’s family, my best friend, my baby. This July, he turns 9. And while I hoped we’d celebrate that milestone with nothing but joy, we’ve been faced with a heartbreaking diagnosis: Blue has an aggressive sarcoma growing on his front left leg, right at the joint of his elbow.
At first, the vets and I thought we could simply remove the tumor and follow up with radiation but after multiple opinions, including one from a trusted veterinary surgeon I worked with during my time at an animal hospital, it became clear: amputation is the best and most reliable option to stop the cancer from spreading and give Blue a real chance at more time, quality time.
What makes this even more painful is that running is Blue’s favorite thing in the world. Watching his leg tilt unnaturally when he tries to sit, seeing the mass grow rapidly, and knowing I can’t explain any of this to him, it breaks my heart every day. But I know in my soul that choosing amputation is choosing life over suffering. I don’t want Blue to die. I don’t want him to be in pain I can’t see or understand.
I’m doing everything I can, but the cost of the surgery and recovery is $4,700, and I can’t do it alone.
If you're in a place to help, even the smallest donation will make a difference toward giving Blue a second chance. But if you can’t give financially, please—I ask from the bottom of my heart, pray for him. I believe in the power of faith and community. I know God doesn’t give us anything we can’t handle, and I trust that somehow, some way, Blue and I will get through this.
Whether you donate, share, or simply hold Blue in your prayers—thank you. Your kindness, time, and love mean more than words can say.
With gratitude,
