<div>Two months after finally coming home from the hospital where my son fought for his life through more than 12 surgeries or more  for sepsis and a severe bone infection we are heartbroken to be back in the emergency room. He’s been in pain again, and an MRI just showed that the infection has returned in his bone and around his hip, just like before. During his last hospital stay, he had a muscle flap surgery to protect his arteries, spent nearly three months in recovery, and worked so hard to start walking again, though he still mostly relies on a wheelchair. Now, he will need surgery again to fight this infection and try to save his leg. This has been an incredibly hard and emotional journey for our family. Any donations will go toward his hospital stays, and our living expenses while we focus on his recovery. <div>July 13th Update
</div>
<div>Noah is out of the OR. It went well although not quite as expected. The doctors were surprised to find there was no puss spilling out of the wounds. Instead a substance called Phlegmon was found. Which is incredibly thick and mucus-like. So understandably the previous procedure didn’t work too well because it was an aspiration of his leg and doing so is like sucking jello through a straw. They removed all of it and it looks good but only time will tell how effective it was.

<div>Secondly, they opened up his hip joint. They washed out his hip which did have pus-like fluid inside of it. The surgeon is more leaning towards that as being the source of his pain and not necessarily his leg. But he said they are both contributing to his massive pain, CRP level increase and white blood cell count spike.

</div>
<div>He has 2 new drains, one going into his thigh and one going into his butt cheek. His entire leg is wrapped up. He has a wound vac covering the entirety of his surgical sites now.
</div>

</div>
<div>They will go back to the OR in 48 hrs and do it all over again to confirm healing and re-treat if necessary by aspirating/ debriding more fluid and tissue as needed.
</div>

<div>He in an EXTREME amount of pain. This was an aggressive procedure and he will be bed bound for possibly the next 2 days depending on how it feels for him to move. His legs have to remain open till further notice. He can turn on his side as long as there is a stack of pillows in between to keep his legs apart.

<div>Blue has made incredible progress this past week!
</div>
<div>He’s now off dialysis—his kidneys are working again—and he’s been doing physical therapy, working hard to get back on his feet.
</div>

<div>He had the drain removed from his leg, but he’s still struggling to move his right leg. Even though things are improving overall, he continues to get fevers and develop pockets of fluid throughout his body. This makes him vulnerable to becoming septic again, and the doctors are still working to understand why the infection hasn’t fully cleared.

<div>They’re doing everything possible to help him heal, and the next step is doing another MRI to find exactly where the remaining pockets of infection are hiding.
</div>

<div>More amazing progress today for our warrior, Blue!

<div>He’s officially been extubated his breathing tube has been removed, and he’s now breathing on his own! Physical therapy came by to assess him, and they said he’s doing great so far.
</div>

<div>They also removed the bandage from his chest surgery, and everything is healing beautifully.
</div>

</div>
<div>Every step forward matters. Blue continues to show his strength, one small miracle at a time. Please keep the prayers coming we still have a long road, but today feels like a big win.

<div>June 12 Update on Noah (Blue)
</div>

</div>
<div>Today, Blue is heading into another important surgery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The results from his MRI gave the medical team exactly what they needed: a clear view of several infection sites still present in his body. While it's difficult news, it also gives them a concrete roadmap for how to help him continue healing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Doctors found pockets of infection in multiple areas—some small, some large enough that they require surgical drainage. This procedure is essential to remove what's left of the infection and give his body a real chance to recover.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He’ll be undergoing at least four incisions today to drain and clean the infected tissue in:

</div>

</div>
<div>Right thigh
</div>

</div>
<div>Right hip

<div>Left bicep

<div>The surgeon performing the procedure is very experienced in this kind of operation and is hopeful that this will significantly reduce the infection burden on Blue’s body.

<div>Blue continues to amaze us with his strength. ❤️

<div>Yesterday doctors successfully closed his chest after ECMO removal surgery a major step forward in his recovery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They also reviewed the results of his recent brain MRI. The clot they had already identified is still present, but thankfully hasn't gotten worse, and it’s the type that can resolve on its own. He’s now back on medication to help his body dissolve it and prevent it from growing.
</div>

</div>
<div>One of the next big milestones is testing his lung function, so they’ll begin gradually lowering the breathing machine to see if his lungs are ready to take over.
</div>

<div>Noah is becoming more responsive each day. He’s been shaking his head yes and no, and even moving his hands on command. He reacts most to his parents’ voices and smiles when mom asks him to

<div>His skin is healing beautifully, his blisters are fading, and his surgical incisions are looking better every day.

<div>We’re beyond grateful for each small miracle and for everyone holding our boy in their prayers. Blue still has a long road ahead, but he’s showing us all just how much of a fighter he really is.

<div>Noah Update 6/7/2025

<div>The medical team is starting to slowly decrease the support from the ECMO machine, which is currently doing the work of Noah’s heart and lungs. The goal is to test how well his heart is beginning to recover on its own.
</div>

</div>
<div>When they briefly lowered ECMO support, Noah’s heart showed signs of squeezing and generating blood pressure—which is a very hopeful and optimistic sign. The ultrasound confirmed the heart muscle was responding.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>However, the doctors explained that this short test doesn’t tell them how the heart will perform over a longer period. It only confirms that in that moment, the heart is showing movement and potential. So they’ll continue carefully monitoring and testing before making any decisions about removing ECMO.
</div>

</div>
<div>This is one of the most positive signs we’ve seen in his heart so far. Please continue to keep Noah in your prayers. He’s still fighting hard.
