On Wednesday, February 12th at 10am, at the blink of an eye, my fur baby’s and i’d life changed for the worst. I left the room for 5 minutes, and came back to find my baby sitting. You’d think this is normal for a dog to sit, but Blair has always been full of life and barely stays still, I immediately knew something was wrong. I called her over to me and she wouldn’t move. Seeing her start to tremble, I went to go pick her up, and seeing her back legs starting to droop brought instant worry; she let out a yelp in agony and i rushed her to the veterinary hospital. She was diagnosed with IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease) a condition that affects the spine and happens when the cushioning discs between the vertebrae degenerate, herniate, or rupture, causing pain, nerve damage, or even paralysis.
Blair’s resulted in, what i hope is temporary, paralysis. Common with her breed, but you never think it’ll happen to yours until it does. there is nothing i wouldn’t do for my dogs but the price matches the severity and intense medical treatment is crucial as the days go on. I appreciate you for your time and hope you can help spread along the word.
