Help Black Woman Secure Housing After Robbery

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to read this I’m crowdfunding to secure housing after I’ve lost $2,000 at the hands of a white man. I am a struggling artist and recent college graduate who has been working hard to save up for the past few months to secure stable housing in order to pursue secondary education in out of state. I recently found an apartment ad on craigslist that was in my price range (which was difficult as an unemployed recent grad during a global pandemic) and I reached out. After being in contact with the apartment ‘owner’ for a few weeks I was desperate to secure housing and paid 2month is rent in advance (which was the majority of the housing funds that I had saved up). After I sent this man the money, he deleted the airbnb posting (where I was to be renting) and disappeared. This was my first time trying to secure housing that was not under a university institution and I made mistakes due to my naivety. However, regardless of my mistakes this man robbed me of my sustenance and security. I hope to remain anonymous because I have not yet shared this with my family. They are financially struggling as well and would be extremely upset and unsupportive through this difficult time. Since I’m living under their roof, I don’t have the mental/emotional capacity to deal with their blame and anger in the midst of this awful experience. All funds will be used to help me secure stable housing and everything else will be used towards my education. I will be attending a masters program in the fall and moving out of my home state. It is crucial for me to secure housing within the month of august so I can start school in September. I’m now struggling financially and am unable to secure a stable home to pursue my studies. Please help in anyway that you can—prayers accepted as well ❤️
