Show Big Mike we love him

Donation protected
Hello friends, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends!

We are spreading awareness to raise money to help Mike O'Shaughnessy. As many of you know, Mike is battling a severe illness right now, and we'd love to show him how much we love and support him by raising money to help pay for his medical bills.

Please donate or contribute whatever you can, and share this page with everyone you know. I know we have a huge network between all of us, and we can really, really make a difference!!

Additionally, we'll be hosting a benefit in Astoria in early October. If you are interested in coming, please let Bobby, PJ or Jackie know!

ABOUT MIKE

Mike was feeling dizzy one afternoon in March. He reported blurry/tunnel vision while driving and showed small changes in personality and an inability to recall simple facts and daily functions. Cynthia took him to a physician and they suggested he go to a hospital for evaluation. They found 3 tumors in his brain, 2 being inoperable and located on his brain stem.

48 hours after diagnosis of malignant brain tumors (glimoa) Mike entered brain surgery at Sloan Kettering in NYC. Initially, 90% of the mass of the largest tumor was removed while not having the satellite tumors touched. Within 7 days he had began an intense bought of chemo and radiation administered by Sloan Kettering in Commack. He was on several additional meds, including steroids, causing intense exhaustion, fatigue, and weakness.

In late July Mike's motor functions worsened and he once again entered the hospital only to find severe blood clots. He was operated on, placing a stint in his groin. He also was now on blood thinner medication, which ironically slowed the healing process of his cancer.

The swelling still comes and goes and Mikes motor functions have all but halted. Routine activities such as walking and eating are troublesome. He has rarely left the house, does not drive, and obviously has not returned to work.

Upon doctors's suggestion, Mike has been administered yet another high dosage of brain tumor medication should chemo and radiation not show positive signs. He is in the middle of this process while still recovering from blood clots and the exhaustion caused by cancer medication. Mike's family remains optimistic.
