Hi everyone, about four years ago, my sister-in-law Bettye was diagnosed with leukemia on Thanksgiving. As an otherwise young and seemingly healthy single mother of two beautiful and brilliant children, this diagnosis blindsided the family. It seems so unfair that bad things like this happen to the best people. Bettye has been and continues to be the rock in our family. She is such a maternal, loving, generous, and kindhearted person who continuously goes above and beyond for her loved ones and strangers, always putting the needs of others first.

Bettye has been able to beat cancer a few times since she was first diagnosed, but it’s back and now it’s progressing. The medications that she has previously tried are no longer effective. Bettye has continued to work and kept good insurance, but as you can imagine, the bills add up over 4 years. There are treatment centers that offer her a real chance at beating cancer's ass for good; however, they’re incredibly expensive. Cancer treatment centers in the US that can help her require you to pay 50% of the cost upfront, which comes out to around a whopping 80k. There is a treatment center in Mexico that charges less than half of that, but full payment is required upfront; this bill comes to $30,000. This center is fantastic, and we’ve had the privilege to talk to patients with firsthand experience! Treatment will require Bettye to leave the country for an extended period of time as well as heal when she returns. Bettye will have to miss work in order to receive treatment and recover, but believe me, she would work through it if she could (she’s tough like that).

Our family is making arrangements to help cover as much of these expenses as we can, but I’m asking for your help. This woman has done so much good in the lives of so many people and has tried for years to handle this on her own.
