Help Betsy after Hurricane Harvey

Donation protected
I've had several people outside of Houston and Galveston reach out to me and ask where they can send money and/or supplies that will be put to good (non-fraudulent) use.  There are literally thousands who have been displaced and millions with flood and wind damage.  But this one touches our family: Betsy!  Betsy Campbell is Joe's cousin who moved to Galveston from Chicago (via St. Louis/SJA) a few years ago to open a custom print/stationery and gift store.  She left a big job at Paper Source in Chicago running their custom print division and invested EVERYTHING she had to get her shop up and running. At one point she was working multiple jobs to support her day-to-day needs while growing her business.  We were so proud to see her hard work coming to fruition.  Betsy By Design was off and running until Hurricane Harvey blew through and flooded her shop and apartment in Downtown Galveston.  This photo was taken two days before the water rose above her door knobs. She didn't have flood insurance on her belongings because the premium was outrageous. (I couldn't afford it in that area either.) While I was gathering my clients' files and my computers last Thursday, Betsy was doing the same. She managed to build shelves up high and save most of her shop inventory.  What she didn't have time to do was save her personal things.  Her bed, her dresser, her clothing, her food... now she is living the ultimate Catch 22: how do you get your business up and running when you have nowhere to live and nothing inside?  Her landlord will repair the property itself but that could take weeks, months or longer.  MANY people in Houston and the coastal areas are faced with similar struggles. Betsy is not unique.  But she's our Betsy and we love her.  If you've never had the opportunity to meet her, I can promise you that she would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it.  Galveston has been good for her. She has made wonderful friends and has really rooted herself in the downtown community.  She's been there for Joe and I through thick and thin.  When we had 3 weeks to move out of our Houston home 2 years ago during tropical storms, she and my sister dropped everything and helped us for days.  It was grueling.  Joe has always thought of her as a sister.  Anything you can give will help.  As noted, I am Betsy's cousin Joe's wife, Sharon and I live in Galveston, Texas as well.  Betsy will use the money to purchase new furniture and shop displays and the plan is to have the funds deposited directly into her account.
Thanks in advance for your kindness and generosity.  I will keep you updated on Betsy's progress and I promise that you will see the power of your donation.
