Beth Bint

Beth Bint has not been well. On the 3rd of July she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) and admitted to Wollongong Hospital. Shortly afterward, she was transferred to the Mater Hospital, in Newcastle, to be near friends and family during her treatment. The doctors have told her that she can expect to be off work for 12 months if she has an uncomplicated treatment and recovery period. If there are complications, this may be considerably longer. During this time Beth will not have any income, previous episodes of prolonged sick leave in the last couple of years have exhausted all accrued leave and savings.

Apart from the routine expenses that will come up throughout the year, Beth has some significant costs to cover to avoid bankruptcy which includes credit debt from previous unpaid leave, relocation costs associated with the move to Newcastle and a balloon repayment for her car due in September. If / when she gets out of hospital after her initial chemotherapy treatment, Beth will be living with Helen and John, and it is essential that she can keep her car so that there is a second car available to take her to her medical appointments. It will also mean so much to Beth if she can keep her car so she doesn’t have to start from scratch when she has recovered.

If you can spare some cash to help relieve the financial burden during this time it will be one less thing Beth will need to worry about while she focuses on beating AML. Thank you in advance.
