Help Ben Represent Team Canada

Donation protected
Hey everyone, glad to see you found your way over to my gofundme! My name's Benjamin Cheer, and I have been selected to represent Canada on the U20 National team. We will be traveling from Vancouver to Ottawa for training camps and tournaments; then defending our home turf at the World Junior Ultimate Championships in Waterloo.

A bit about me before we get into the ultimate stuff— I've grown up in Ottawa, Ontario, with 2 parents and 3 younger sisters. I played competitive soccer for 5 years before turning to ultimate and also received my Black belt in Shotokan Karate at age 11. I currently go St. Mother Teresa Highschool— where I started our ultimate team— and will continue my education next year at the University of Windsor.

I started playing ultimate when I was thirteen, looking for a new sport after soccer.  My dad had always played, so naturally the sport peeked my interest. Unlike in soccer, where I just showed up to play; I actually enjoyed pushing myself and wanting to get better. From the beginning, I could see myself playing at high levels and thinking that if there was a "Team Canada" for this sport, I wanted to be on it. Well, fast forward  4.5 years and here I am.

I've played 4 years of Competitive Juniors Ultimate, currently going into my fifth and final year. In 2014 I played for Ottawa's "B" team, OTT. The year after I was moved up to the "A" team, Ignite, where we placed 13th at nationals. In 2016, I was named as a Captain and our goal was to finish top 8. However, far exceeding that we finished in a surprising 4th place. This fuelled the fire for our following year where we won a national bronze medal on home turf— the highest Ignite has ever placed, and the first time Ottawa has medalled since 2013.

With the upcoming costs of tuition, res, and club ultimate, I'm trying to fund this experience on my own and remove some stress from my families single income. I currently work a part-time job which will help me cover the $1500 team fees. Any donations received will go towards the cost of travel, training, meals, uniforms, and accommodations, which would then fall back on my family.

If you made it this far through my ramble, thank-you for checking out my gofundme— I'll assume that meant it wasn't too boring. If you consider donating, I would be extremely grateful and if I can do anything to help you out in the future, let me know! If you can't donate, that's all good, but it'd be awesome if you could share this on social media or any other means possible!

Also, as an option because of the way gofundme works, if you're donating $6.50 or less BEFORE May 7; DM or send me an email. I can get you a Team Canada disc for $15 instead; It will help me out just as much and you get a TC disc! If you would just like to buy a disc, prices are listed below:

1 disc: $15
3 discs: $40
10 discs (Bulk): $120

Wow, this was long. Thanks! :)
