<div>Hello everyone! My name is Danny Kind, and I’m a UChicago student who was lucky enough to catch a ride with Artemio Torres, the legendary “Party Lyft” driver who brightens everyone’s day in Hyde Park. If you’ve ever ridden with him, you know exactly why so many students love him.

<div>Artemio’s car burned to a crisp when an electrical fire started under the dash, and his insurance won’t cover a dime of it. Now he’s fallen on hard times, borrowing his brother’s car just to make ends meet.

<div>Despite all this, Artemio still comes to work every day with a smile, determined to give us the best experience possible. When we talked, he told me:

<div>“I feel like when I’m driving in Hyde Park I’m driving with my friends. I feel like I’m not even working. You students make me feel like a young man again!”

<div>It was clear how deeply he cares about our community. He genuinely loves seeing our faces light up when we hop into his LED-lined, music-filled car. He said it makes him just as happy as it makes us.

<div>Now, we want to return the favor and help Artemio get a car so he can keep earning a living for his family again.

<div><strong>100% of donations will go to Artemio, and I will be transparent about the whole process.</strong> When we have raised enough money, I will provide proof that I transferred the funds to him via Venmo. I’ve spoken with him, and he’s agreed to accept this support. We will post updates on how much is raised, when funds are transferred, and the progress of getting him a new car.
