Hello everybody. This is Bella, a four-year-old chunky English Labrador. As we all know, English labs eat pretty much everything. Unfortunately, on Thursday, she started vomiting and stopped eating, and we had to take her to the vet. After an hour at the vet and $600 later, they told us that she needed to go to the ER because of what they found on the x-ray. She had eaten a sock or something that was stuck in her intestines. After an hour and a half in the ER, the doctor came in and said that she should stay overnight in the ICU to give her fluids to see if she can pass the object. We spent $3300 for her to stay overnight. If she needs surgery, it's gonna cost another $10,000. Care credit will only give me a certain amount of money. I need time, which I don't think I have. I am hoping that the doctor will understand. I don't want to euthanize a perfectly healthy dog because I don't have the money. If this is the case, then the system is flawed. As a clinician, I am always a patient advocate. The doctor should be an advocate for my dog, to tell these people to do the surgery if she needs it, and I will pay when I get the money.
