Hello Friends,
I'm sure you've become aware of the growing number of people that have contracted Lyme disease over the past few years as more and more celebrities join the ranks and start to tell their stories and journey to health.
I'm no celebrity, I'm just a farm girl from Utah... now living in San Diego.
I am Becky and I am 49 years old, a loving mother to my three beautiful children ages 8, 12, and 14. I have late stage, Neurodegenerative Lyme Disease. I have experienced feelings of hopelessness and frustration for living with debilitating symptoms such as: disabling spine and leg pain, arthritis in my hands and neck, blurred vision, dizziness, loss of concentration and speech, heart palpitations and lyme carditis, insomnia, tremors and seizures, frequent migraines, depression, severe muscle and joint pain, anxiety and chronic fatigue.
It took doctors two years to diagnose me with Lyme disease. By that time, the disease had taken a destructive path in my body. I have seen numerous doctors, specialist, had labs and tests done, been misdiagnosed and taken so many medications that didn’t work or made my symptoms worse. Lyme disease often gets misdiagnosed as its symptoms mimic more than 350 other conditions. I was tested for multiple sclerosis (MS), rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, Parkinson’s, and ALS, and many other infectious diseases just to name a few.
For 19 years I worked as a film/video producer, co-founding a nonprofit film and documentary organization, as well as owning my own film production business. I also volunteered in the community, at church and my children’s schools, and led an active life - spending time with family and friends, gardening, traveling, camping, hiking and remodeling my home… until Lyme infected my body, progressively taking my health and my quality of life.
Lyme disease is not well understood, and insurance covers very little of the costs for treatment. I began a treatment program at Sophia Health Institute in Seattle 2 yrs ago. I have made great strides in fighting for my health. But Lyme disease is an international disease and it requires an international solution. Some of the best treatments for it are in Mexico, Germany, Switzerland, India and other countries. I have needed to travel to Seattle, Switzerland and Germany to receive treatment and surgeries not yet available in the U.S. These treatments have proven effective for the eradication of Lyme disease and associated disease complex and have saved my life!
My friends Lena, Leslie and Michael among others, have spear headed fundraising to help me with medical costs over the past 2 years I’ve been in treatment. But I have continued costs and debt, and my care has become a greater financial burden than my family is able to bear.
The treatments, rehabilitation, medicine and medical supplies and travel expenses are very expensive and have to be paid mostly out-of-pocket as no insurance will cover the cost. All of the funds raised go toward my surgery, medical and rehabilitation costs and I’m so grateful for the support… it’s giving me a second chance for health and happiness.
I would appreciate ANY and ALL support you could give, be it financial, prayers and/or words of encouragement or spreading the word. It would mean opportunities that change my life, and the lives of my three wonderful children. Help me eliminate Lyme. I look forward to giving back to the world, what all of you have done for me.

It's hard asking for money and fundraising for yourself... I'm grateful to have so many friends helping me!!! I have, at times, felt discouraged that I need to fundraise, but I'm always encouraged by the support and feedback I receive from all of you. I have a special gift for you when you donate $50 or more - I wrote this children's book, inspired by my 3 children (and supported in offering you as a gift by my illustrator and friend, Zuzana Vass.) The book is being illustrated now, and slated for publishing/release in early 2019, at which time you will receive your copy.
