Help Bec Bounce Back

In the past couple of weeks our beautiful, always smiling, fun, supportive Bec has been diagnosed with a brain aneurysm (an internal carotid opthalmic segment artery aneurysm) at the front of her brain behind the left eye. Bec was at work when she lost vision in her eye, thankfully before takeoff, and went to hospital. Last week she spent some time in hospital with some serious headaches, which her doctors have now advised her were a sign of it being close to rupturing. While she is grateful that is was found in time, the prospect of surgery and recovery is always daunting. Bec is in surgery as I write this, the operation is a coiling and stent placement, but is not always guaranteed to work. If it doesn't she will return to surgery for a craniotomy.
At this stage she is expected to be in ICU recovering for a few days afterwards. She may experience some vision loss or other disturbance, and will be on her back for a few days, not even allowed to walk. 


If all goes well, Bec can probably be back to work in a couple of months, but she may also need the extra surgery. Regardless, we all know that our job is pretty tough on the body, and it is important not to rush recovery. While she has not asked for help, I know she is currently on leave without pay. Any income protection, if approved, takes a LONG time, and does not cover at least your first month off of work. If we can cover a couple of months salary for Bec she can take her time to recover properly. 

Naturally Bec is scared, as anyone would be, and I hope this can be a wonderful wake-up present for her this afternoon.  Any amount would be amazing, and if you cannot manage a gift at this stage, please take the time to send Bec your well wishes for her speedy recovery.
