Hello,
Hello, my name is Beau (Or Pedro Pepe, I have a few options to choose from) and I have impacted teeth. Unfortunately, with this condition I am very likely to have serious dental problems in the future that may lead to my jaw fracturing on it's own. The average cost to this surgery is about $3000-$5000 and must be done by a specialized veterinary dentist.
Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I was brought in to my foster's vet clinic on 11/22/24 completely unresponsive and barely alive and weighing only 2lbs. My temperature was too low to read, my blood sugar was practically nonexistent and very dehydrated. After 2-3 hours of some supportive care I perked up, got to eat some food, and haven't looked back. Because I came in under questionable circumstances by a "good Samaritan" one of the doctors at the clinic took me home.
I'm rambunctious, playful, friendly, love to be held and absolutely have a Napoleon complex (typical chihuahua!). I've gained weight, now about 4 lbs, and am about 7-8 months old.
My foster mom was waiting until all my teeth came in (likely in December but no later than January) to neuter me and remove any baby teeth remaining (we chihuahuas usually have some) but at the end of January when my adult teeth still weren't there, she got suspicious. I got put under anesthesia, was neutered, and took these x-rays and she saw that I was in a lot of trouble.
So here is my problem. Here we are, mid-February, and the one lower canine is still stuck. When this happens, you can't just leave it or it will cause a cyst over the next few years which will definitely cause my jaw to break when it does, and it will be painful. The only way to handle this situation is to go to a boarded dentist and have the tooth removed now, and even then it will be a very delicate procedure.
My intention was always to be adopted out, my foster mom just wanted to make sure I was set and good to go. Now it turns out I need an expensive surgery and she doesn't want to saddle that expense on anyone or on a rescue. Her goal is to get as many people as possible to donate just $5 each and try and cover the cost (and hopefully the dentist will give us a small discount!!) so I can get the care I need so I can FINALLY be adopted and find my forever home.
Will you help me, please?? You can't say no to this cute little face!
Thank you for reading this far and helping me on my journey. Please share my story, the faster we can raise the money the faster I can go home!
Sincerely,
Beau
P.S. If you're interested in adopting me, just reach out to my foster mom!!!
