Help Bean Play Again

Hi my name is Bean. I'm 9 years old and I'm here to tell you my story.

My wonderful human adopted me when I was just a young puppy. It was known that I had some health issues, but my human was determined to ensure I had the best possible life and welcomed me home.

I have severe allergies, both to myself and seasonally. My human has always managed these well for me, ensuring I get the best veterinary care. I'm also a little anxious, so my human stays with me all the time to make sure I feel safe.

Due to my allergies, I have needed a lot of steroid treatment. This has weakened my muscles, meaning I am more likely to get injured. It has also weakened my immune system, so I am prone to infections and take longer than normal to heal.

A few years ago, I had a severe infection. I almost died, but emergency treatment and an operation to remove my womb saved my life. I've also needed some dental work and I've had part of my tail amputated due to 'happy tail syndrome'.

Recently, I was playing with a friend when suddenly a tendon in my rear leg ruptured. The surgery to repair this cost almost £4,000.

I'm all recovered from my surgery now, and I'm feeling much better. However, while recovering extra stress was put on my other leg. I now have some issues with the tendons on that side, and I need another operation costing an additional £4,000.

I'm not on steroids anymore, but my allergy medication, regular antibiotics and pain killers cost over £600 per month. All funds raised by this appeal will pay for my upcoming surgery, repay debts incurred by my other surgeries and help with the cost of my ongoing day-to-day care.

I am conducting this fundraiser on behalf of Bean's owner, my best friend. She dedicates her entire life to Bean, and every penny she has goes towards her care. Bean did have pet insurance which was paid up to date for many years, but all recent claims have been refused. Bean is the sweetest dog you could ever meet, despite all of her issues she is happy, full of love and just wants to cuddle all the time.
