Help Batangrande Peru, to stop the spread of Covid

We are a Peruvian couple Francis and Jonathan, and we now live in Victoria, BC. We have returned to our home town to try to help our community, which is in desperate need.
Batangrande is a remote small town located in the north of the country. The town is suffering from an extremely high number of Covid-19 cases and sadly has a significant mortality rate. It seems that almost every family has members who have passed.
There is no government help; people live on a day-to-day basis; if they don’t go to work, they don’t eat! Unfortunately having to leave their homes has dramatically contributed to the spread of the virus.
This situation makes the purchase of PPE’s often unaffordable. Vaccines are still far from this area, except for a few medical staff. We have been horrified to find out that some people are washing their paper masks which makes them lose the filter.
As the situation worsens, our hearts are torn for the people in our town, and we are trying to step up and help. Alarmingly, more contagious variants, including the Brazilian one, are now rampant in the community.
Masks and shields will reduce and help stop the spread of Covid-19 in our community. We are sadly losing two or three people a day to the virus, and a number of the deaths are the younger people. This week more than 20% of a testing sample revealed positive tests for Covid-19.
Believing that masks can save countless lives, we ask you to please consider donating to help our community purchase masks. Your generosity would be greatly appreciated and never forgotten. Please be assured that we (Jonathan and Francis) with the help of a local organization called “Asociación Batangrandina Identidad Sicán (ABIS)”, will manage the purchase and distribution of the masks and shields fairly among the people in the town.
