After countless risk-filled missions during his 25-year military career, retired MAJ Barry J. Guidry was involved in a freak accident that left him a quadriplegic the day after signing his retirement paperwork. Only days after being diagnosed a quadriplegic, Barry made it his mission to walk again, more accurately, to run! Since that day 7.5 years ago, he has never stopped believing he would succeed and one day complete the Crescent City Classic in New Orleans. Thanks to Celltex Therapeutics in Houston, Barry is close to achieving his goal – and with your help, he will!
In December (2017), Barry learned he was a candidate for a regenerative medicine stem cell program offered by Celltex. On December 20, he began the $40,000 process, believing God would assist him in providing a source for obtaining the remaining $35,000 needed to complete the therapy.
WHY?
It’s not just about walking again. It’s about a mission Barry believes he was meant to complete for himself and others. This mission is about inspiring others and overcoming obstacles. It’s about faith and hope. It’s about helping others believe anything is possible regardless the circumstances or obstacles. It’s about believing anything is possible!
Over the last seven years, while continuing his own physical rehabilitation and physical struggles, Barry has continued to support and assist others – physically, financially, emotionally. He has never forgotten his fellow soldiers and volunteers as a mentor to countless soldiers, veterans, and disabled individuals in general. He also shares his time with local non-profit Hero Hunts, as well as numerous wounded soldier and disability programs. If that wasn’t enough, he also gives motivational speeches.
His love of people and life is contagious. He has inspired so many people by how he has chosen to live his life. He has helped so many others get the help, medical treatment, and medical equipment they need. Now, he needs YOU to join his mission and help him get the medical treatment he needs to walk again – no, run!
