In March 2018, a medical team traveled to Manipur, India to run a free medical camp out of Sielmat Christian Hospital, founded in 1964 by Bibles For The World.   Bibles For The World is a non-profit organization that has been involved in charitable work in over 120 countries.   Among Bibles For The World’s charitable projects in India is Sielmat Christian Hospital, a rural charitable hospital providing low or no cost healthcare to disadvantaged people of the region.   It was at this hospital that we met Simon, a 7-month-old baby. Simon came into the hospital with his mother for a check in with the doctors during the free medical camp.  One doctor flagged him to get an x-ray, citing some developmental delays. The x-rays came back and showed that Simon has a severe deformity in his lower back; specifically, his L3 hemivertebra with right lateral wedging causing scoliotic deformity to the right.  If Simon does not have the operation, he will not be able to walk when he is older due to the severity of the deformity. John Pudaite, CEO/President of Bibles For The World along with his wife, Lawm, run Sielmat Christian Hospital.  They worked with Lauren, the trip leader of the medical team and planned for the mother and son to travel to the closest city of Imphal to meet with an Orthopedic Surgeon.  Together, they vowed to help raise money for Simon’s surgery, no matter the cost. The surgeon has estimated the cost of the surgery to be between $11,000-$12,000 USD.  Simon will be able to learn to walk after receiving the surgery.  If he does not get the surgery, he will be facing a hard life with disabilities.     Simon is a baby from a small, rural and impoverished town in India.  He comes from a loving family that is desperate to help their son lead a healthy and happy life.  Simon deserves what every child does; a chance at a full healthy life.  However, the surgery that will change his life forever is beyond the reach of his impoverished family. Lawm, John and Lauren are teaming up to raise the funds for Simon’s surgery – and you can help them with your special gift today!
