Baby Jo's Cleft Lip Medical Support

For those of you who know Tee, you know that his family all lives in southern Thailand on the island of Ko Phangan. His brother Bao and his wife Si had a baby boy this week named Jo. Unfortunately, our nephew baby Jo was born with a cleft palate and cleft lip and is now in the intensive care unit in a hospital on the neighboring island of Ko Samui. He had a traumatic birth where his shoulder was broken during delivery and fluid entered his lungs. His cleft palate and cleft lip make it extremely difficult for him to eat, so he is being fed by a tube now. On the island of Ko Phangan where our family is from there are not a lot of resources or help with this condition. Baby Jo will need to get surgery for his cleft palate/lip when he is 4 months old and more surgeries following afterwards.  As they live in a remote area they will have to travel to a bigger city to receive any treatment.  At this point, we are identifying their immediate needs and will update more accurately once we know what baby Jo’s and his family’s longer-term needs will be.  Right now, Bao (Tee’s brother) is unable to work as he is staying on the neighboring island with his wife Si and baby Jo. Bao, Si, and baby Jo have a long road ahead of them so if we could help alleviate some financial burden for them through this difficult time I know they would be forever grateful. Every donation no matter what size can go a long way in Thailand and will be a huge help to them. Every donation will go towards surgery costs, travel, accommodation and food costs as well as speech language therapy down the road.
