Help Baby Ella.

Ella is my precious niece who is 2 years old. Ella loves Peppa Pig, taking walks in the wagon, and playing with her brothers and sisters. She can be shy at first, but she warms up easily and is very chatty once she feels comfortable. Ella is a very loving and caring child, and she is developing a great sense of humor!
Ella was born with a congenital heart defect that required surgery. As a result of the defect, the right side of her heart was considerably enlarged and her lungs accumulated fluid. After struggling with persistent pneumonia in the last six months, the pediatric cardiologist determined that she needed surgery as soon as possible to repair the defect so her heart and lungs could fully function. At the beginning of February, Ella (along with mom and dad, Madia and Dion Droppers) traveled from Aberdeen, SD to Rochester, MN to have the defect repaired via a catheter procedure.
The doctors were able to use a device to close the defect. A day after the surgery, however, an echo revealed that the device had shifted within the heart and needed to be removed immediately to prevent further damage. In order to retrieve the device and repair the defect, they performed emergency open heart surgery. Ella spent nearly a week in the hospital, and she now has a six week recovery before resuming normal activity, including daycare. Madia and Dion are fortunate to have accumulated leave from NSU and 3M that allows one of them to care for Ella during her recovery.
While they are blessed to have medical insurance, Ella’s medical expenses will cost at least $15,000 (not including travel, meals, hotel, etc).The impact on their finances has been overwhelming. Any way that you might be able to help would be much appreciated!
