My name is Ashley and my baby Azarya "Z" needs help. She is a 5-year-old Newfoundland that has been the light of my life since I got her as a puppy. Anybody that knows me knows that animals are my life and that mine are my children. They also know that I struggle in asking for help, but I have unfortunately hit a financial roadblock.

Very recently, Z was diagnosed with a torn ACL that would require surgical repair. After contacting my pet insurance company, I learned that her policy had changed and that they dropped her reimbursement drastically.

Unfortunately, the day after her ACL repair surgery, things took a turn for the worse. They discharged her home for me to monitor, although she had a high heart rate. They assumed it was anxiety-driven. A few hours after being home, I checked her heart rate and it was still sky high—that's when I noticed her stomach was distended. (Thank God for being a vet tech and noticing this was not a good sign.)

She was rushed to Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists while her condition rapidly declined on the way there. Her stomach had flipped, cutting blood supply off to major organs while gas was filling up her abdomen. I now had to make a choice of whether to let her go, as she was so unstable, or attempt surgery to possibly save her life. I had to give my girl a chance. This was her second surgery in two days, but by the grace of God, she made it through.

She is not out of the woods yet, as it is still touch and go, but things are looking up. I am over $12,000.00 in unexpected costs from the second surgery alone, and she has a long recovery ahead of her.

I am asking for help to cover some of her surgery and recovery costs. As many of you know, I have been struggling with my own medical issues for a few years and unfortunately, I am now faced with this huge financial burden in order to save my baby girl's life.
