Help Avery Scheit's Family

Donation protected
The nature of fundraisers, particularly for health related ones, is circumstances change all the time.  We're updating this now, on 3/7, and will issue a formal update for existing contributors so they see, too.

This was, originally, for financial support for medical expenses. Avery left us today. It's not fair. It's devastating. I cannot articulate how shattered I am for my friend. I cannot imagine the depths of loss and pain for the family.

This gofundme is now financial support for a grieving family with final expenses. Anything you can contribute will go to supporting Tikvah, Carl, and their other two children as well as seeing to Avery's final needs. These contributions can alleviate what is not the biggest strain by far, but one I hope they don't have to consider awhile, with our help.

Thank you for your continued support, good wishes, prayers, and energy. We're lighting candles tonight for the light that has left us far too soon.

Hello everyone,

Pictured above is Avery, a smiley, wonderful seventeen-year-old kid who spent the weekend of March 2 - 4th at Emerald City Comic Con.  She attended the con with her mother, Tikvah, a friend of mine for more than ten years. The two of them cosplayed as a one-two punch of Death and Delirium from Neil Gaiman’s Sandman.  They look amazing, don’t they?

Avery had a great time at ECCC, but unfortunately, on Sunday, she suffered a massive asthma attack that collapsed both of her lungs and caused her heart to stop three times--once on the con floor, once in the ambulance during transport, and once again in the ER. Her lungs have lines in both sides to help her breathe. She’s on a ventilator at the hospital in Seattle, and her prognosis is not good. She went without oxygen for an extended period of time which presents numerous challenges.

Avery is currently fighting for her young life, her family at her side. As you can imagine, this has put a great deal of strain on Avery’s parents, Tikvah and Carl, and her siblings, Simmone and Keiran. Friends and family are pulling for Avery with prayer and good thought and will continue to do so through this trial. That said, financial support is one way friends, family, and supporters can make a very bad, very scary situation a little bit easier.

Moneys given to this fundraiser will go toward helping keep the family afloat during Avery’s hospitalization as well as assist with any future planning the family must do. I will update this fundraiser as news of Avery’s condition comes in--her mother is in contact with me and keeping me abreast.

I sincerely thank you for helping Avery and her family through this difficult time. Continue the positive energy and let’s hope for a miracle for Tikvah’s Delirium girl.

Thanks,

Hillary & Lauren
