<div>On Wednesday, May 7th, Aurora came home from a typical day at school, happy and seemingly healthy. The evening took a quick turn when she suddenly could not breathe. She was taken to a medical facility in Clarion, PA, where they discovered she had severe pneumonia and would need to be life-flighted to UPMC Children's Hospital.  Once she was admitted, the diagnostic and critical care teams did everything possible to stabilize Aurora and determine the root cause. Her breathing worsened as did the fluid in her lungs, so they needed to intubate her. From then on, things changed rapidly, and many specialists reviewed her scans/tests. By midday, Friday, May 9, we had some answers. Aurora had an asymptomatic strep infection that affected multiple organs, including her lungs and heart. As we continue to pray for our sweet girl's recovery, parents, grandparents, and aunts are all by her side. Although we have more answers than we did 24 hours ago, the path to recovery is unclear, but we know it will be long regardless of the medical interventions needed.  We have created this GoFundMe to support Aurora's family during this difficult time. There will be medical bills and unforeseen financial challenges due to needed time off from work and travel to and from the hospital.
