Help Aurora Webb Beat Lymphoma

On September 6th Aurora went to the doctor for shortness of breath. Immediately after seeing the doctor and getting some x-rays done, she was told to go to the ER because there was a large amount of fluid on her lungs. Once we were seen at the ER and a CT scan was completed they used the dreaded words “possible lymphoma” and told us that she would need to be transferred to Presby Dallas. She was transported and checked in at 1am Friday morning on the 7th. Again, words like biopsy and lymphoma were used but we would have to wait to speak to a doctor and run tests. The next day, almost 2 liters of fluid were removed from her right lung and then the wait continued. Scared yet hopeful we were patient and focused on the best case scenario. On Monday, September 10th she would start the scariest week of her life with a needle biopsy and continue to wait for results. Tuesday, a PET scan, Wednesday a spinal tap and later that afternoon...the diagnosis. On September 12, 2018, Aurora Webb was diagnosed with Stage 4 Non Hodgkin's Follicular Lymphoma. She had a bone marrow biopsy on Thursday and a port placed in her chest. It was like a bad dream. Thursday night, we were told that this had spread to her lungs, pelvis, abdomen and bone. As some of you may know, Doug and Aurora moved back to Texas last November after a few years in Seattle making memories with their grandson. Aurora was so thankful and excited to get the chance to rejoin the family at AHR in June of this year. Her benefits had literally just kicked in on September 1st only days before her diagnosis. AHR has been amazing, patient and so helpful during this last month! Good news, Aurora is back to work intermittently as she’s able after a crazy, emotional and overwhelming couple of weeks! Her first round of chemo was on September 20th and 21st. It was a tough few days following treatment including back to the hospital for fluids because she was so sick that she had become dehydrated but I'm proud to say she was back at work just a week later, in spite of the draining physical and emotional toll! She is fighting, determined, and pushing in every way possible to beat this. That being said, because she is not working "full time" in the eyes of insurance qualification, she is now having to go through cobra for medical coverage. As we all know, cobra is expensive and so is cancer treatment. The required treatment is to have two day chemo infusions every 4 weeks for the next 6 months. After being in the hospital from the 6th through the 13th and already starting treatment, the bills are adding up and the new cobra payment started on October 1st. Doug and Aurora have always been able to make ends meet but this is not something that had been planned for financially. The cost to fight cancer is not something any of us plan for in our budgets...
