I’m reaching out to ask for your help. In December, I was out of town visiting family in Michigan for a week. When I returned, my beloved dog, Aurora, was clearly not herself. She wasn’t eating, was drinking excessively, and was very lethargic. After learning that this had been going on all week, I rushed her to the nearest open emergency vet—2.5 hours away in Colorado Springs.
Aurora faced a life-threatening infection that required emergency surgery. It was a scary experience, but thankfully, the surgery saved her life. Aurora had her stitches removed this week and is back to her usual self, though her surgical wound is still healing.
The financial expenses of this ordeal has been overwhelming. The surgery and associated vet care cost $4,800. This doesn’t include follow-up visits, medications, or the cost of lodging in Colorado Springs while Aurora was hospitalized. The total expenses have quickly added up to far more than I was prepared for and the bill is due soon.
Aurora means the world to me. She’s not just a pet; she’s my family, my road trip and adventure buddy, and source of unconditional love. I’m doing everything I can to provide her with the best care, but I can’t do it alone.
