Help Ashli Study Abroad in Sweden

Hello friends and family! My name is Ashli Alston and I am a junior at Mercer University majoring in Political Science with a double minor in Sociology and Global Development Studies. My goal is to become a Foreign Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. However, I need your help to complete this goal.

This summer, from July 13-25, 2020, I have been given the opportunity to study abroad with fellow Mercer students and faculty members in Sweden. I will have the first-hand experience of being abroad, observing local policies and making recommendations for long-term improvements. In order to complete this goal, we will research the success of the Swedish government and analyze that information to make recommendations for improvements in our local governments. Sweden is a country with one of the best reputations in the world with low crime rates, good gender equality, low levels of corruption, good economic growth, high levels of innovation and more. I will spend four weeks doing guided research with my professor before heading to Sweden for two weeks to do on the ground, in-depth research of their government.

This is a study abroad program with costs that include Mercer tuition, accommodations, in-country transportation, breakfast and dinner, program excursions, flight and the Mercer study abroad fee. My Hope Scholarship will cover half of the tuition costs, but the rest of the fees I will have to pay out of pocket which is why I am asking for your donations! The remaining cost is $5,850. In order to meet these financial obligations, I am pursuing scholarships, donations and money saved from part time employment of my own to offset the trip expenses. Any monetary gift will be greatly appreciated, and I do mean anything!
