Help Asheville Couple Make Ends Meet After Flood

Donation protected
Hi friends, as many you know our community in Asheville, NC and the surrounding western North Carolina area were devastated by a once in a lifetime hurricane this past weekend. We had no way of preparing for this and honestly have no idea how long it is going to take for us as a community to rebuild and recover. Thankfully, our home was not affected by the flooding but many of the places we frequented are gone or severely damaged, roads we drive are destroyed or impassable, and many people that we know have lost close to everything.

The flooding of the French Broad River destroyed the water line infrastructure in Asheville and as you might guess, working at a salon, my job relies heavily on the use of water. The salon is closed dependent on when water and power will be restored to that area. It could be days to weeks to months... there is no way for us to know right now.

I have already been out of work for a week now and I am unsure of when I will be able to return. This is extremely stressful and disheartening because we are just trying to pay our bills and survive like the rest of us. Unfortunately, things like car payments etc. don't pay themselves even in the case of natural disasters.

Gas and food are hard to find and the roads to get to places that have them are limited and/or we have to drive further to find the things we need. At this point we have hunkered down because there is no guarantee that if we find an open gas station that they will have gas or that an open grocery store will have food. It feels like and apocalypse here in Appalachia and it sucks.

If you are able to help us keep a roof over our heads, food in our pantry, gas in our car, feed our animals etc. by donating to this GoFundMe, we would be forever grateful. These are very uncertain and stressful times and anything you can do to help alleviate that for us would be appreciated.

*we can't get mail at this time because our post office was on the river and was flooded so we can't even receive care packages from those that have offered if we wanted to.
