<div>I have spent years as a leadership trainer and speaker, helping people step into their power, find their voice, and become the leaders they were meant to be. But three months ago, I found myself in a position I never expected—fighting to breathe.

<div><strong>What Happened?</strong>

<div>In late January, I was hospitalized for Streptococcal Pneumonia and Pleural Effusion, which caused my left lung to nearly collapse, leaving it functioning at only 15% capacity. Doctors believe this was triggered by prolonged exposure to smoke from the Los Angeles wildfires. I spent 13 days in the hospital, battling through treatments, draining procedures, and an uphill road to recovery.

<div>Because my medical emergency happened while I was in Arizona, where some of my family lives, I’ve had to stay an extra month for infusion treatments to help my lung heal properly—treatments that are not covered by my insurance.

<div><strong>How This Has Impacted My Life</strong>

<div>I’m used to being the person full of energy, someone who thrives on moving, speaking, and inspiring others. But since this hospitalization, I’ve struggled with simple things—taking a walk, building my strength, and even just catching my breath.

<div>Professionally, the impact has been devastating. As a self-employed leadership trainer, my work depends on my ability to travel, speak, and engage audiences. Because doctors required me to rest, recover, and heal, I had to reschedule or cancel three months of trainings and events—meaning three months of no income.

<div>Beyond the financial strain, it’s been heartbreaking to step away from my purpose. I had big goals this year—to train and empower thousands of people. This medical emergency took that opportunity away, and that loss weighs heavily on me.
