<div>At just 19 years old, Aram’s life has changed forever.

<div>Aram is a gentle, hardworking young man from Takalarup in regional Western Australia. Before all of this, he loved kayaking, helping around the family property, working on fences and mechanical repairs with his dad, gaming, and working as a rural fencing contractor. He was fit, active, and had his whole future ahead of him.

<div>Over the course of nine weeks, Aram began suffering from crippling headaches and worsening vision problems. Despite multiple GP appointments and two presentations to Albany Emergency Department, his symptoms continued to deteriorate until his mum Narelle pushed for an urgent MRI to be brought forward.

</div>
<div>That MRI revealed every family’s nightmare.
</div>

<div>Aram was diagnosed with a massive cerebral aneurysm located between his pituitary gland and optic nerves.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since then, everything has changed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The aneurysm has already caused devastating impacts to Aram’s eyesight, including blurred and distorted vision, permanent double vision in his peripheral sight, and an estimated loss of approximately 75% of his vision. The pressure from the aneurysm continues to affect his optic nerves, leaving the family uncertain about how much vision he may recover.

<div>Aram has undergone emergency treatment at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital under the care of Dr Alex Choo and the neurosurgical team led by Bouyan Khoo. The aneurysm has been coiled, however doctors were unable to proceed with inserting a stent due to the extremely high risk of stroke.

<div>The road ahead remains uncertain.
</div>

<div>At the moment, Aram is unable to work due to his vision impairment and the risk associated with anything that could increase intracranial pressure. Simple day-to-day activities have become incredibly difficult. He is living with constant headaches, severe light sensitivity due to heavily dilated pupils, fatigue, and limited mobility caused by his eyesight.

<div>His mum Narelle has had to leave work temporarily to care for him in Perth while his dad Kris has returned to Albany to continue working and care for their home and animals. The family is now split between Perth and regional WA while navigating specialist appointments, ongoing scans, travel, accommodation costs, and the emotional strain of not knowing what comes next.

<div>There is still a possibility that Aram may require an incredibly high-risk future procedure involving a flow diverter stent and lifelong blood-thinning medication if the aneurysm changes or regrows.
</div>

</div>
<div>Anyone who knows Aram knows how kind, caring, and good-natured he is. Even through all of this, he has handled everything with incredible strength and courage.
</div>
