Flute students at Arkansas State University have the opportunity to perform at the National Flute Convention in August as part of the Arkansas Flute Society Flute Choir. This is a state-wide collaboration with flutists from the community and nearly all of the universities in Arkansas!
Attending and performing at the National Flute Convention is an invaluable opportunity. It's a chance for students to experience music outside of Arkansas, to hear world-class musicians, network with future colleagues, and share the joy of flute with over 2,500 other flutists. They'll be attending a 4-day convention filled with performances, workshops, vendors, and showcases from some of the best flutists around!
When I first attended this convention, I was astounded. The level of artistry, the passion for teaching, and the love of flute that everyone shared was contagious. It thrills me to think about about everything these students will get to experience! I have no doubt they will leave with a fire in their soul for music and incredible memories.
Naturally, attending this convention is a big financial undertaking for students who already need to work while going to school. We’ve been fundraising all this past year to help cover the travel and registration costs, which is more than $300 per person. They've been terrific and we've raised enough to cover housing and membership to the organization.
I'm hoping to help my students raise money to cover the $200 convention registration fee so they do not need to work overtime during the semester to pay off this expense. ALL proceeds support the flute students at Arkansas State University.
If you can support, every bit helps! Thank you so much for helping these students afford the opportunity of a lifetime at the National Flute Convention.
