Help Anthony get a Wheelchair Van!

The Micalizzi Family has been profoundly touched by their oldest son, Anthony Jr. Anyone who has ever met Anthony Jr. has been impacted by his smile, his heart, and his infectious laugh. Anyone who has ever met his parents, knows that they would do almost anything for anyone. I have had the distinct privilege of getting to know them personally, working in their home as Anthony's PCA on and off over the past 4 years. I have seen first hand the challenges that accompany having a child with special needs. Anthony has spastic quadriplegia, this means that Anthony is unable to use his arms and legs in the same way that a typically developing person would. This makes it so he lives most of his life in a wheelchair, and requires maximal assistance of one to two people in order to get into or out of his chair at any given time. As Anthony gets older, he gets heavier, longer, and harder to carry. This means that the Micalizzi's are now in a place where expenses related to providing the safest and most equitable environment for Anthony are popping up left and right. Right now, Kristin and Anthony are continuing to lift their 12 year old, 75 lb child into and out of his carseat on a daily basis. This poses a significant safety risk to not only Anthony, but his caregivers as well. They are now at a place where they are in need of a wheelchair accessible van. This would mean that Anthony wouldn't have to get into and out of his chair in order to go to the grocery store, to playdates, or to school; it would mean his parents wouldn't be at risk each time they want to take their son out of the house. Having the means to get a wheelchair accessible van would make life more equitable for Anthony; and for his family. Every child should be able to go to the movies or a playdate safely and easily. I am asking, that if you have a heart for this child and his family, if you can appreciate that this mindless task we each do several times a day; getting in and out of the car; is a huge hurdle for some, consider donating, or sharing this go fund me. Please help this family afford to get a handicap accessible van. The average cost of a handicap van can be anywhere upwards of 40,000 dollars; which isn't pocket change for most; especially while raising their other 3 children. This family has done so much for so many over the years. They're the kind of people who call the hairdresser and pay for your haircut as a broke college kid, who volunteer to fight fires in their town on top of full time jobs. The kind of people who live to see other people succeed, and above all, they are the kind of people who have never once let Anthony's handicap, handicap his life; and they're not about to start now. Having a wheelchair van will allow these incredible people to keep doing incredible things and giving Anthony the life he deserves.
