It’s always hard to ask for help, especially on this large of a scale, but after exhausting every option I have, I’m hoping to find a little kindness during one of the hardest seasons of my life.

I am a single mother raising my 13mo old child on my own. My child’s father left without a goodbye when she was only 2 months old, leaving us without the proper support i had hoped for, and assumed would be there, given our engagement. He and His family live across the country, shockingly, offering no support and I have no close family nearby to help us through this crisis. Aside from all the grief and confusion, i work very hard every day to provide a safe, stable and happy home. However, this past week everything changed. I decided that we have to leave our original home, due to the level of sudden and traumatic memories crowding my mind there, and because it was far too expensive and big for just us. So i put my head to this goal. Then, after months of working and carefully saving nearly $2,000 for the security deposit and moving costs on what I believed would be a fresh start for my child and me, I discovered that the rental home was part of a very elaborate and well done…scam. I was moved in by a 3rd party who pretended to be the owner of a home owned by a corporation.. not a private owner. He also set us up, by leaving the back door open, then framing it as a break in, so he could tie up any loose ends i assume. Luckily I have met with the police, and the company who owns the home.. and they have granted me 10 days total, to leave. I have a ton of gratitude for this, but there are still big , factors in this, that make it super stressful and honestly scary.  The money I had worked so hard to save is gone.

Now, with only days to find somewhere else to live, I am facing an impossible situation. I no longer have the savings needed for another security deposit, the first month’s rent, or even the cost of a moving truck. What was supposed to be a new beginning has turned into an overwhelming financial crisis almost overnight.

This has been emotionally devastating. More than losing the money, it feels like losing the hope that things were finally beginning to get better. I had found a place where I believed my child and I could finally begin healing and building a peaceful life together. Instead, I am once again trying to figure out how to keep a roof over our heads. I don’t have anywhere to stay.. and my dog &amp; baby do not deserve to lose a home because of someone else’s game, that i couldn’t see. I feel so much guilt for not knowing, and i do take accountability in areas i could’ve tried to discern better, im not only this, but my life leading up as a whole. I so badly just wanted to give this to my family and I, and i thought i did.   If you are able to help, every donation—no matter the amount—will go directly toward securing a safe place for us to live, replacing the money that was stolen through the scam, and covering the basic costs of moving so we can begin again.
