Hello, I'm John, Annie's uncle.
Annie has been living with me and my dog Taya since last February 2024, along with her dogs Maya and Nellie.
The dogs have gotten along really well, playing with each other and keeping Annie and me sane through their antics and the love they show for us.
Nellie (only 3 years old) suddenly and quickly became ill last week. She was in the local Veterinary Emergency hospital overnight last Thursday - Friday. She has been dehydrated, vomiting, and generally lethargic. She is undergoing tests and the possible diagnoses are Lymphoma, Addison's disease, or possibly a thyroid issue, or another illness yet to be determined. Nellie was home over the weekend, but her symptoms did not improve and the local Vet ER had an 8-hour wait, so Annie and her mom took Nellie to the MSU veterinary clinic in East Lansing. Nellie was in shock because of dehydration. The MSU clinic has been wonderful, thorough, and very communicative with each step of the process to diagnose and treat Nellie. As of now, we are still awaiting a diagnosis. Nellie had to be placed on oxygen last night to aid her breathing, but she is stable as they continue to try and diagnose what is the cause. This has been very difficult for Annie as she has had to make decisions to continue to care for Nellie at a large, unexpected cost with hopes of a treatable diagnosis and yet a possible diagnosis that may not be treatable.
If you have the ability to help Annie and Nellie by donating any amount, it would be greatly appreciated.
update 1/3
Nellie’s vitals and tests have shown improvement but she doesn’t seem to look better, maybe it’s the drowsiness from pain meds. The illness cause is a mystery to the MSU vet team. Hopefully there is more improvement by Tuesday morning. Update coming then.
