Help Ann Wickett with medical expenses

On April 7, 2023, Ann Wickett was visiting relatives in Grand Island when she suffered a bad fall which broke both her shoulders and her right wrist. She had double shoulder replacement surgery and is currently rehabilitating at the hospital in Creighton, Neb., which is near her brother's home.

Ann has been a staple of the Tecumseh and Johnson County community for many years. She has worked for the Tecumseh Chieftain newspaper for 38 years and during that time has covered as many school events, sporting events, and community events across the county as she can pack into her 7-day weeks. As a person, she is always kind and understanding. She will be among the first to try to help someone and the last to criticize. Even when she is having a rough time, she will put on a cheerful face and look on the bright side of any situation.

Even as she recovers from this terrible fall, she is still thinking of others. She calls in to work regularly with ideas for stories to cover and people to contact. She may be away from home for now, but she is definitely not gone. She is overwhelmed by the outpouring of well-wishes that are coming to her. She deeply appreciates all the cards and prayers and visits. “I didn't know that many people liked me,” she said.
