Help Ani Fund Her Master's at Leeds — A Top UK University

My name is Ani Mkrtchyan.

I am a musician and a flutist. Music has played a big role in my life since childhood, when I started learning to play the flute at 8 years old. I have won numerous awards and have performed in concerts both in Armenia and abroad. Following my dream, I got into Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan and earned my bachelor’s degree with top honors. However, the Armenian education system failed to provide me with the resources necessary for the realization of my dreams using my skills and talent, which is why I have not been able to reach my full potential. Many talented musicians also struggle with this problem and get left behind in the shadows, unable to fully bloom for the same reason that I do.

During my studies and work at Al. Spendiaryan Music School, I slowly began to recognize a problem that stands in the way of young, talented artists in our country, a problem that halts the natural development of the field. That issue is the absence of an important link in the Armenian education system that would connect art with society in a way that prepares people to appreciate high-quality art. That link, in the field of music, is music business education, which still hasn’t been integrated into Armenia’s post-Soviet education system. We are being taught as musicians without knowing how we are going to present music in the future or even how we are going to simply survive as academically trained artists. This is why musicians choose not to continue their careers in music or leave Armenia in search of opportunities that do not exist here.

After spending a long time searching for solutions to these problems, I realized that the field needs more specialists in the musical business. This led me to pursue a degree in Music Business and Management. I applied to one of the best universities in Great Britain — the University of Leeds, ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. Not only was I accepted, but I also received a scholarship covering 16,000 GBP, which is 50% of my tuition fee. That is the maximum amount the university can provide.

I am currently seeking financial support to cover the remaining 16,000 GBP so that I do not miss the unique opportunity to study at the University of Leeds. This will help me contribute to the development of music in Armenia as a sustainable and thriving art form.

Ես Անի Մկրտչյանն եմ,

մասնագիտությամբ երաժիշտ, ֆլեյտահար։ Երաժշտությամբ զբաղվում եմ մանկուց։ 8 տարեկանից տիրապետում եմ ֆլեյտային։ Բազմաթիվ մրցույթների դափնեկիր եմ, համերգներ եմ ունեցել թե ՛ Հայաստանում, և թե՛ արտերկրում։ Իմ երազանքի հետևից գնալով՝ ընդունվել եմ Երևանի Կոմիտասի անվան Պետական Կոնսերվատորիա և ավարտել եմ բակալավրի ծրագիրը գերազանցությամբ։ Բայց իբրև երաժիշտ, ունենալով բավականաչափ փորձառություն և գիտելիք, ես Հայաստանում անընդհատ բախվում եմ իմ հմտություններն ու տաղանդը ռեալիզացնելու, հետևաբար նաև՝ մասնագիտական կարողություններս կատարելագործելու խնդրին։ Բազմաթիվ տաղանդավոր արվեստագետներ այս ձևով մնում են ստվերում և չեն կարողանում ինքնադրսևորվել նույն պատճառով, ինչ ես։

Ուսումնառությանս, հետո նաև երաժշտական դպրոցում աշխատելուս ընթացքում ինձ համար կամաց-կամաց սկսեց ուրվագծվել այն գլխավոր պատճառը, որը փակուղու առաջ է կանգնեցնում մեր երկրում բազմաթիվ երաժիշտների, կասեցնում ոլորտի թռիչքային ընթացքը։ Պատճառը Հայաստանում կրթության մեջ այն կարևոր օղակի բացակայությունն է, որը պիտի արվեստը հասցներ հասարակությանը, իսկ հասարակությանը պատրաստեր որակյալ, բարձր արվեստի համար։ Այդ բացակայող օղակը երաժշտության բնագավառում պատշաճ գործարար կրթությունն է, որը հետսովետական կրթական մեր համակարգի մեջ դեռ չի հասցրել որդեգրվել։ Մենք կրթվում ենք իբրև երաժիշտ՝ առանց իմանալու, թե հետո ինչպես ենք ներկայացնելու երաժշտությունը և ինչպես ենք պարզապես գոյատևելու իբրև ակադեմիական կրթության կրողներ։ Հենց այս պատճառով էլ երաժիշտները կամ հեռանում են իրենց մասնագիտությունից, կամ էլ լքում են հայրենիքը՝ որոնելով հնարավորություններ, որոնք այստեղ պարզապես չկան։

Երկար փնտրտուքներից ու փակուղուց ելք գտնելու փորձերից հետո ես հասկացա, որ ոլորտը երաժշտության բիզնեսի մասնագետների կարիք ունի։ Դա ինձ գաղափար տվեց խորացնել կրթությունս այդ բնագավառում։ Որոշեցի դիմել Մեծ Բրիտանիայում աշխարհի լավագույն համալսարաններից մեկը՝ University of Leeds-ը, որն ընդգրկված է աշխարհի 100 լավագույն բուհերի ցանկում: Ես ոչ միայն ընդունվեցի, այլև ստացա 50% կրթաթոշակ, որը համալսարանի կողմից տրամադրվող առավելագույն զեղչն է։

Այս պահին փնտրում եմ աջակցություն՝ մնացած 16,000 ֆունտը ձեռք բերելու համար, որպեսզի չկորցնեմ այս համալսարանում ուսանելու բացառիկ հնարավորությունը։ Դա ինձ կօգնի իմ ներդրումն ունենալ Հայաստանում երաժշտության զարգացմանը՝ իբրև կենսունակ ու ինքնաբավ արվեստ։

Ձեզ դիմում եմ ակնկալիքով, որ անտարբեր չեք գտնվի և Ձեր ներդրումը կունենաք իմ կրթության մեջ։ Յուրաքանչյուր ներդրում, անկախ չափից, ինձ ավելի է մոտեցնում նպատակիս:
