Anyone who knows Angelo can tell you what an energetic, exuberant, kind, and loving person he is. He has a fierce love of his family, cycling, the outdoors, and coffee. He has been one of my biggest protectors (and competitors...I still remember when I won Clue the first time!). Angelo knew when to challenge me, comfort me, defend and celebrate with me.
This past weekend, Angelo had an accident where he tripped and hit his head. From the fall Angelo suffered intercranial hemorrhaging, a fractured skull, and broken collar bone. Initially he was taken to Denton Presbyterian hospital, where physicians in the ER quickly sent him to Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth to seek the help from the neurosurgeon via ambulatory services. After discharge, he will require continual medical care to get him back on his feet.
Needless to say, our family was distraught and anxious over his progression and the potential for the worst to happen. Anyone who has been in a similar situation knows it is sickening. You process your last discussion, how you should have called more, or etc. We are relieved and thankful to say he is stable. However, he has a long road ahead of him.
During this process we discovered Angelo lost healthcare coverage from his employer when Covid became widespread and small businesses began the painful process of cutting expenses. As a result, Angelo is now faced with extensive health care costs from necessary and honestly, life saving medical expertise. Additionally, he is now on FMLA at work and will not be returning for the foreseeable future, eliminating his income.
We are beyond grateful for the miracle of his recovery and stabilization. God definitely answered prayers. In my first ever Go Fund Me, we am asking for help for Angelo in a daunting task of not only aid in his healthcare costs, but also his continued care and basic living expenses. Anything helps. Words cannot describe the gratitude for the support, love, and prayers that each and everyone one of you provide.
Thank you a thousand times over.
