Help Ana conquer breast cancer!
At 35 years of age, Ana has been diagnosed with breast cancer. Ana works as a Conference & Events Coordinator in Hobart, as well as a yoga instructor, and has been volunteering for the Cancer Council.
Ana has been working in Hospitality in Australia for many years, and during the toughest year yet in her career, she supported her family back home in Brazil through her mother’s aggressive ovarian cancer. This encouraged her to organise regular tests, and now Ana has been diagnosed with the same mutation BRCA2, and therefore was at a much higher risk of developing further breast cancer or ovarian cancer compared with someone who doesn't have the mutation. Hers has been detected early and is grade 1-2 out of 5.
She has had to make very quick decisions in order to achieve the best outcome possible for herself in the long term, including electing for a double mastectomy to minimise cancer in future.
Isolated from her family in Brazil and facing this challenge alone, we (her colleagues and friends) want to try and assist her with the financial burden of what is ahead of her so she can focus on her health and getting better.
Ana is facing cancer removal surgery, a double mastectomy, reconstructive plastic surgery, hormone therapy, possible radiotherapy or chemotherapy and fertility preservation treatment without any alleviation from Medicare and many out-of-pocket expenses. During Ana’s recovery, she will have to take time off work with limited paid leave available.
All funds will go to Ana to assist her with paying medical fees, salary coverage and living expenses. Please give generously so we can support Ana and give her the strength, courage, stability and love she deserves and more!
