Help Amy's Leukemia Recovery

The Amy Archer Benefit

There are few people in my life that I can say truly inspire me to be a better person; my Aunt Amy is one of those people. Not only is she infinitely loving and generous, but also incredibly hard working and—as anyone who knows her can tell you—tough as nails. Nothing can stop her, not even MS, Lupus, and Leukemia.

It wasn’t until I was in my teenage years that I realized how sick she really was, mostly because she would never let on that she was feeling bad at all. She gets up every day, goes to work, gives her all in her job and does so without complaint, despite being seriously ill. Even in pain, she always had time to talk or to bake cookies, because she loved us more than she cared about how unbelievably sick she felt.

Last year our family got the news that she was diagnosed with Leukemia. It was heartbreaking, after all the suffering she had to deal with her MS, this was just another setback. She was still positive however, especially when told that a bone marrow transplant could save her.

Thankfully, my dad was a 100% match. She had to go through several treatments while we waited for preparations to be made for the transplant. This February, my dad travelled to Florida and joined my Aunt Amy in the Mayo Clinic as her donor. The process of bone marrow extraction was flawless, and we are all very hopeful for what the future holds. She will have to go through a rigorous therapy for the next 100 days so that we can monitor how her body reacts to the new bone marrow and to continue treatment.

Unfortunately, this procedure is not only hard on her physically, but financially as well. The treatment has caused a drastic increase in health insurance costs, a difference that we can’t cover on our own, that’s why we are reaching out. We’re asking for the help of anyone who can contribute. Every small amount counts, and if you can’t donate, then spreading the word is equally as valuable. We hope that with enough support, we can give back to someone who always puts others before herself.

Thank you so much to everyone who helps.

We love you, Amy
