Help Amy & Emma - Hurricane Harvey

Donation protected
Hurricane Harvey hits.  Rain is coming down in sheets.  You barely make it home after hydroplaning several scary times.  The rain comes down so hard that you can’t see the house across the street.  Your house becomes an island within a few hours.

Imagine being trapped in your home --- you can’t even open a door as water is already seeping under the floor boards.  A few hours later the water is rising in and out of your house.  The power is off and there is only a limited amount of food to eat.

After a night of terror and prayers that you will make it through this ordeal --- you hear your neighbors outside leaving their home in their kayaks.  You stick your head out the window and ask them to please send a boat back to rescue you.

A boat comes then a huge monster truck meets the boat and takes you to Texas Children’s Medical Center where you work night and day trying to take care of your unit full of premature babies and supervise your team.  You are one of the few doctors there. You and Emma are both safe, so that’s the truly important thing.

You return home when the water goes down a little.  Your home as you know it was flooded and is destroyed.  It will have to be completely rebuilt ---- all of the floors and walls removed due to the dirty water and the mold.

Now your task is to save as many clothes as possible, and to decide what to save and move to another location.  The list of your “to dos” becomes impossible, but you have no choice but to move forward and do all you can.  Life goes on.

Everything in your home has to be packed up and moved to a storage unit.  Anything wet must be replaced.  You set up a temporary “home” in an impersonal apartment.

This is Amy and Emma’s story.  They have each other.  They will survive and be happy and healthy, and they will rebuild their house and recreate their warm happy home.

Your help will go directly to their rebuilding endeavors, and every penny will be appreciated.

Amy saves lives every day of her own life --- now she and Emma need YOU to help save their lives.

Amy and Emma send their love and THANK YOU FROM BOTH THEIR HEARTS.

Note: This campaign was created by Laurie Sandlin, Amy's sister and Emma's aunt, and Ann Boriskie, Amy's mother and Emma's grandmother. Laurie lives in Boulder, Colorado and Ann lives in Alpharetta, Georgia. We are doing our best to help Amy and Emma from out of state, which is why we set up this fundraising campaign. The withdrawal plan is to set up a direct deposit to Amy Hair's account, so the funds will go directly to where they are needed. Your donation will help them recover and rebuild from flood related damages to their home. Specifically, the funds will help with mold remediation, replacing damaged floors, walls and furniture, storage rental costs, moving costs, and temporary living expenses. Thank you in advance for your consideration and help!
