<div>my name is <strong>Anas</strong> <strong>Ayesh</strong>, and I am a <strong>Palestinian</strong> born in the <strong>Gaza-Strip</strong>. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

<div>After graduating from high school, I had the opportunity to travel to <strong>Venezuela</strong> on a <strong>scholarship</strong> granted by the former leader and president, Hugo Chávez. However, due to <strong>economic</strong> <strong>reasons</strong>, I was forced to <strong>abandon</strong> that opportunity and focus on <strong>work</strong>. Throughout that time, I tirelessly worked hard to return to studying, and eventually, I managed to reach Bolivia. For a while, I stayed in that country known for its kind people, but once again, the challenging economic situation affected both me and my father, who had been supporting me. I found myself not being able to afford university fees, so I had no choice but to return to Venezuela once more.

<div>I resumed working amidst the economic difficulties that plagued the entire country. However, I didn’t give up, and I managed to regain the same scholarship to study Integral Community Medicine. After passing several semesters at the <strong><em>Latin</em></strong> <strong><em>American</em></strong> <strong><em>School</em></strong> <strong><em>of</em></strong> <strong><em>Medicine</em></strong> <strong><em>(ELAM)</em></strong>, a glimmer of hope emerged the possibility of visiting my <strong>family</strong> in the Gaza Strip. It had been <strong>9</strong> <strong>years</strong> since I last saw my mother and family. I returned to my homeland after such a long time abroad, unsuspecting that this would be one of the most challenging and unexpected moments of my life.

<div>Just a month after my return, a <strong><em>war</em></strong> erupted—one considered one of the most inhumane in history. The news shows it all, but let me share the essentials: this barbaric war robbed me from my present and future. I was <strong><em>stuck</em></strong> in Gaza, unable to leave. I lost the scholarship that had allowed me to dream of pursuing my career in medicine. Moreover, I lost everything that had kept me alive until that moment. Hope seemed to fade away.

<div>Today, <strong><em>my sole quest is to find even a small opportunity for life</em></strong> in a world that often appears unjust. Any help or support would mean a great deal to me. <div>Después de graduarme del bachillerato, tuve la oportunidad de viajar a <strong>Venezuela</strong> con una beca otorgada por el anterior líder y presidente, Hugo Chávez. Sin embargo, debido a razones <strong>económicas</strong>, me vi obligado a abandonar esa oportunidad y dedicarme al <strong>trabajo</strong>. Durante todo ese tiempo, luché incansablemente para volver a estudiar y finalmente logré llegar a Bolivia. Allí, me quedé por un tiempo en este país amable con su pueblo, pero nuevamente me afectó la difícil situación económica tanto para mí como para mi padre, quien me había estado apoyando. No podía pagar las cuotas universitarias, así que no me quedó más remedio que regresar a Venezuela una vez más.

<div>Reanudé mi trabajo en medio de las dificultades económicas que afectaban a todo el país. Sin embargo, no me di por vencido y logré recuperar la misma beca para estudiar <strong>Medicina Integral Comunitaria</strong>. Después de aprobar varios semestres en la <strong><em>Escuela Latinoamericana de</em></strong><em> </em><strong><em>Medicina</em></strong><em> </em><strong><em>(ELAM)</em></strong>, surgió una esperanza: la posibilidad de visitar a mi familia en <strong><em>la Franja de Gaza</em></strong>. Habían pasado 9 años desde la última vez que vi a mi madre y a mi familia. Regresé a mi patria después de tanto tiempo en el extranjero, sin sospechar que este sería uno de los momentos más difíciles e inesperados de mi vida.

<div>Apenas un mes después de mi regreso, estalló una <strong><em>guerra</em></strong> que se considera una de las más <strong><em>inhumanas</em></strong> de la historia. Las noticias lo muestran todo, pero permítanme compartir lo mínimo: esta guerra bárbara me arrebató mi presente y mi futuro. Me quedé atrapado en Gaza, sin poder salir. Perdí la beca que me había permitido soñar con seguir mi carrera en medicina. Además, perdí todo lo que me había mantenido con vida hasta ese momento. La esperanza parecía esfumarse.
