Help Amanda while in hospital

Donation protected
My name is Nicole Mouser and my mother Amanda Bennett is very sick in the hospital right now. I’m asking for enough money to cover her rent while she is on the hospital at a bare minimum and if more could be raised then great but I’m hoping one months rent would be enough to cover; granting the time she gets better. If you would like to read the details of everything then read below. Do take the time to read just so you can know fully what you would be donating to.

A couple weeks before February 14th my mother started getting really sick. She would tell me she wasn’t holding down food. We all kept hearing on the news it’s the worse flu season ever so maybe it was that or some food wasn’t agreeing with her. I’ve never seen my mother really sick before and like many hard working Americans they can’t afford to take the time off of work. My mother was also newly hired at her job so taking time off work looks bad.

The Monday before Valentine’s she
went to the doctors. On Valentine’s Day she calls me asking me to take her to ER and her eyes have turned yellow so she has jaundice. The first time they admitted her into the hospital it was for a day and couldn’t find what was wrong with her liver; just that something was wrong with it. Like most people who have liver troubles doctors jump to the prognosis of alcohol. While my mother has an active social life with her friends I knew she was not an alcoholic. Plus my mom had been sober since she started getting sick. We gave the doctors advice a try (which I knew was wrong and I knew she was going to be right back in the hospital) but 2 days later she was back.

This time they kept her for a week in the hospital. Everything came back fine for her except her liver enzymes were up which cause that yellow in the eyes. Finally they did a biopsy and saw she had damaged cells in the liver for drugs. Not drugs like street drugs but from supplements or antibiotics. She had been taking iron pills but they don’t think it’s from that and she hadn’t taken any antibiotics recently so we still don’t know why this happened or how a harsh chemical or drug was introduced into her liver.

To make a long story short the doctors say she will be fine but that it’s a waiting game. She is still in the hospital but this time they moved her to one with a liver specialist. She still is having a hard time keeping food down and I know that a lack of money is stressing her out; probably not helping with the healing process.

My mother was also fired from her job since it was the first 90 days but on the bright side they said if a position is still available when she gets better then they will hire her back. That being said she also lost her health insurance because it came with the job.

Sadly, I’m only 23 years old and like many people my age we make minimum wage making barely enough to support ourselves let alone a sick parent.

I know I said a lot but I wanted to give full disclosure as it is your right to know what you would be donating to. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this and if you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me.
