Hi, my name is Tori Boyer, wife to Randy Boyer and daughter in law to Amanda Todd and Dan Peters. On January 5th, 2026 at 8pm a fire broke out in the historic Douglas tavern. Originally starting in the newly opened Douglas Diner and trading post, the fire quickly spread to the adjacent hotel and became out of control. Despite the best efforts of the Douglas fire department and surrounding fire departmen, nothing remains of the hotel and diner but a pile of rubble.

Dan and Amanda bought the tavern in 2021 and have since made it their life’s dream to refurbish and bring life to the historic building. They not only made Douglas and the hotel their family home, but ran a long time family business out of the tavern and recently opened a much needed diner for locals. They always opened their doors to those in need of food, shelter or a friend to talk to.

Now it’s our turn to return the favour and help Dan and Amanda rebuild their home and livelihood. Although family photos, heirlooms, and memories could not be saved or replaced, we would like to raise money to help them with necessities and a start to rebuilding. On behalf of them as their family we are asking for any contributions possible to help Dan and Amanda rebuild.
