Hello, my name is Alyssa-- Cookie's mom. On February 7th, I got the sudden news I had to let my best friend and baby go of 9 years. A few days before I had noticed her having trouble breathing and looking uncomfortably bloated. When I took her in, the vet had trouble finding her heartbeat so they took her in for X-rays and blood work. Turns out she had a large heart mass-- essentially a sack of blood surrounding her heart pushing against her lungs making it difficult for her to breathe. The vet said there was nothing they could do and recommended to put her down within the day. It felt surreal to hear because she was still eating, drinking, and playing the day before.

It's been extremely difficult for me to come to this and ask for help, but just as I was not emotionally prepared for the loss of my best friend, I was not financially prepared either. The cost of her blood work, imaging and eventual euthanasia on her comfortable bed, has put me in a position where I need help. She was a very special dog with a big personality and I will miss her. So much.
