<div>I am 25 weeks pregnant and currently living in a maternity shelter in San Diego after leaving an abusive marriage. I never expected my life to take this turn, but I am doing everything I can to protect myself and my baby and to build a safe, stable future for us.

<div>Why I Need Help

<div>After I left my husband due to emotional and sexual abuse and escalating danger, he withdrew my green card petition and filed legal actions against me. Overnight, I lost my path to immigration status, my home, my financial stability, and the life I worked hard to build.

<div>To stay safe and stay in the United States legally, I had to hire an immigration attorney to file a VAWA (Violence Against Women Act) self-petition, which protects survivors of abuse. This process is lifesaving, but it is also expensive.

<div>On top of this, I have an ongoing family court case, including a restraining order and divorce, which also requires legal representation.

<div>What the Funds Will Cover

<div>I am currently working as a nanny part-time, but because I paid all my savings to my family lawyer just to protect myself, I have nothing left to cover the new immigration costs.
