Help Alouette Represent Australia in Kansas City!

Let’s get Alouette to Kansas City to represent Australia in October By Kath Ware, a friend and Alouette Groupette!

Alouette is one of the finest barbershop quartets in Australia. They captivate audiences wherever they go, and regularly perform at festivals, concerts and community events. They’ve also won many awards over the years, including first place in this year’s Barbershop Harmony Australia Eastern Region open quartet competition. Their reward? Just the immense pleasure they get from creating gorgeous harmonies together, and connecting with their audiences through a shared love of beautiful music.  

So when Vicki Dwyer told me they had just accepted a late invitation from Sweet Adelines International to compete as a wild card entry in the 2024 Kansas City international competition, I said ‘That’s fantastic! But how are you going to get there?’ 

 They added up the expenses and discovered it would cost the four of them $17,500 to cover flights, accommodation and convention registrations. I said to them, ‘You need a GoFundMe page!’ 

Alouette comprises four singers from Circular Keys Chorus, based in Bella Vista, Sydney. 

• Vicki Dwyer is lead singer and also the musical director of CKC 

• Diane Jenkins sings tenor and is the assistant director of CKC 

• Kaity Dwyer is the baritone and inherited the harmony gene from her mother Vicki 

• Crystal Forbes sings bass, and once played the role of Glinda the Witch in a musical society production of The Wizard of Oz, where all you had to do to get to Kansas (City) was to click the heels of your ruby slippers three times and wish yourself there. 

 This time we need more than four pairs of ruby slippers and a wish. We need real folding money. Alouette deserves to be on stage in Kansas City representing Australia when the world’s best women’s quartets come together to see who is the most magical of all. And this is our opportunity to help them get there.
