Help Aloka get to Cinema Makeup School, Hollywood

My name is Aloka Rain Jarman, and I’m trying to raise the funds to attend my dream school, Cinema Makeup School in Hollywood, California.

Working in the film industry and studying special effects (SFX) makeup for film and television has been my dream since I was tiny. I’ve been self taught for the last 5 years, but have always known that I wanted to study it professionally.

I just came back from a visit to the school in Hollywood, where I met with the admissions counsellors and staff, plus saw students active in the classrooms, and this learning environment is definitely where I belong.

I have been researching schools/programs for a long time now, wanting to study at a place that would most benefit my learning, creativity and career chances. This course I have found is the “Full Track” program at Cinema Makeup School, located in Hollywood. It’s a 29 week program, and is everything I could imagine!

I was counting on applying for the 5 scholarships that CMS (Cinema Makeup School) offered, but I recently met with an admissions counselor, and she informed me that due to Covid they no longer offer those funds. The Full Track will be CAD$40,000 plus my living expenses while in LA.

All the instructors I would be studying under actively work in the film industry, and several of them are multiple Academy Award winning special effects makeup artists.

The school provides amazing connections within the industry, and offers a weekly email list with job opportunities once the program begins, for students and graduates.

They also offer paid internships once you have completed the program.

The school and the future it offers me is so exciting and is everything I am looking for.

Unfortunately I can’t qualify for student loans for this program, so I’m asking for help from any friends, family and supporters of my work. I would be so deeply grateful for any help I receive.

The course costs plus living expenses is going to be a lot, so even the littlest contributions would go a long way!

Art has been my life long passion and always will be and I’m so grateful for all the incredible support I’ve gotten over the years.
