Help Allyssah start a career in art

Hi - my name is Allyssah and I am very grateful that you're looking at this, with all of the things we have going on in the world today. If you do have funds, please take a look at any other GoFundMe efforts that may support those facing homelessness, those who need mental health services, environmental efforts or those in the BIPOC or LGBTQ+ communities who may need it.

 

Should you have an interest, my story for being here is below:

 

For most of my life, I've had a pencil in my hand. Sketching in class, on planes, napkins - anywhere I could. When I got to college, it was suggested that I pursue something "more professional". And so I did.

 

After 2 years attempting to help startups create marketing materials, I felt a pull to create something that brought joy, a sense of wonder or communicated something that mattered. Each year, friends, families and colleagues alike have asked me "Why are you not pursuing your art in some way?"

 

I was too scared. Too scared that I wasn't good enough or that I was being financially irresponsible.  Too scared that this line of work wasn't impressive, didn't help enough people, didn't impact the world the way I wanted to. After years of admiring illustrators, animators and creators, I finally believe that I can use my talents to bring smiles to the world. I believe I can put in the work to be great. This fund would go toward what I am currently looking for, which is a digital art tablet that would take away the need for a laptop, art supplies and high quality scanners. It is pricey, but it eliminates additional costs that would be there if I continued to draw by hand.

 

It's the same friends, colleagues and family members who told me to open this Go Fund Me, to create a way for them to donate from all around the world so that I could afford this tablet. I have half of the funds saved myself, and need a little help getting to the finish line.

 

If you got to the end of this, thank you. I know there are many other, more significant efforts in which you and myself can donate money to. This would assist in the start of exploring art as a career, and please know that a dream can be achieved in many different ways. I can pursue this dream with a pencil and paper as well. Some others do not have that luxury.
