This is my friend Alli's cause:
Hi, my name is Alli.
I'm reaching out because I'm in an urgent and dangerous living situation and need support to secure safe housing. I currently rent a room in a house that I moved into without knowing the full extent of the risks. Initially, I was uncovering things such as black mold, lead, asbestos, and other health risks that were carefully hidden during my tours prior to signing the lease. However, things have escalated beyond just the health hazards.
In October 2024, I was sexually assaulted by another tenant. After, I experienced a time of harassment and stalking. Things calmed for a brief period, then escalated again, including a recent break-in where I had to physically defend myself, followed by a death threat shortly after.
These incidents have been reported to the police. There is an active investigation and measures are being taken to ensure my safety with the resources currently available. While I’m doing everything I can to protect myself, remaining in this environment is no longer an option.
The good news is that I’ve found a safe and clean apartment where I can afford the monthly rent without roommates. The challenge is the upfront moving costs, which I cannot cover on my own in such a short time. This fundraiser is to help me make that move safely and swiftly, without having to go into debt just to survive.
Asking for help is something I'm struggling with. I've been trying to earn the extra income by offering discounted housekeeping services and art commissions, but it hasn't been enough. I've felt that, if I can't earn this on my own, then I just need to tough it out. Recently, I was reminded by those close to me that asking for help doesn't mean that I've failed. It wasn't what I wanted to hear, but it was the push that I needed.
If you're able to contribute to or share this, I would be deeply grateful. Every bit helps, and your support means more than words can express. I have faith that this will work out, and someday, I can turn these moments into something that can help others, too.
Thank you for reading and for standing with me in this critical moment.
With love and gratitude,
Alli
