As I exited the highway onto Charleston Boulevard, another driver suddenly swerved into my lane without warning. I had to slam on my brakes to avoid crashing. I honked my horn to alert them, and for a moment, they seemed to correct themselves—but then the situation quickly escalated.

<div>The driver began driving aggressively, swerving between lanes, and then pulled up next to me, yelling through his window and accusing me of cutting him off. He and his passenger—his wife—flipped me off, cursed at me, and began verbally threatening me. He shouted that he was going to “beat the shit” out of me, and it became clear that this wasn’t just road rage—it was turning into something dangerous.

<div>I was scared. Genuinely scared. We were coming up to a red light, and I feared they were about to get out of their car and physically attack me. I was alone. In a moment of panic, I briefly showed that I had a legal weapon in my vehicle. I never pointed it. I never made a threat. It was visible for only a few seconds—just to signal that I wanted to be left alone and that I was not defenseless.

<div>Instead of backing off, they got behind me and began following me for miles. I could see them on the phone, and I was terrified they were calling people to come after me—or worse, following me home. They never stopped. They never pulled over. They even drove past the police station without stopping.

<div>Eventually, I was pulled over at gunpoint. The couple had called the police and told them I had pointed a gun at them and their children, and that they feared for their lives.

<div>None of that is true.

<div>Now, I’m facing charges that could send me to prison for 16 years—because I tried to protect myself in a moment of fear.

<div>Since that day, I’ve lost my home. I’ve lost my car. I lost my job. My current job is hanging by a thread. I’ve spent everything I have trying to defend myself legally. I’ve hired attorneys who took my money and made no progress. I’m drowning in legal debt, and the clock is ticking. Worst of all, I’ve lost precious time with my children, and now they risk losing their father for more than a decade—all because of someone else’s lies.
